Roamer Frame

Roamer Frame

From: £1700.00

The Roamer is a fat bike, but not as you know them. Built to close the gap between floatation and trail bike fun, the Roamer will put a grin on your face come snow, sand, mud, roots, rocks, rain or sun!

It’s often said that fat bikes are unnecessary in the climate and terrain of the UK, but why should you need snow or sand to justify flotation and grip? Those huge tyres are equally adept at smoothing out roughness from the trail, and the traction seems limitless. If you could have a fat bike which handled like a trail bike instead of a trekking sled….why not own a fattie!? After all, is it even possible to ride a fat bike, and not grin to yourself as you effortlessly glide over everything in your path?

The Roamer is shorter at the back and longer at the front than many fat bikes, which are primarily designed for creeping along at walking pace while carrying a week’s worth of food. This shift in perspective and balance is a large part of how the Roamer handles so differently from any other fat bike; it’s literally designed like a trail bike! Our recommended rider fit may not be ideal for multi-day rides, but this is also crucial to making the Roamer handle well at speed.

While we’ve rearranged almost everything from its default location to create this trail-fattie, we’ve made sure we haven’t destroyed its ability to operate in less-than-ideal conditions. Sure, the BB is low enough that you’ll need to pay attention to where your pedals are, but it’s also not so low that it grounds out at the slightest hint of technical terrain. Your weight distribution, especially when climbing, will also be a lot more rearward than most other fat bikes, but this will only be noticeable in the most adverse ground conditions.

With its 100mm threaded BB and 177 x 12mm dropouts, the Roamer is limited to an absolute maximum rear tyre width of 4.8″ (<4.6″ recommended), but tyres larger than this make it increasingly more difficult for the Roamer to handle in a manner comparable with a trail bike; the chances are, if you need 5″+ tyres, you probably aren’t so interested in the handling of the bike as you are its ability to overcome trail obstacles.

The Roamer comes with external dropper seat post cable routing as standard, with the option of stealth routing available. Dropper post cable routing can be removed by special request, but we thoroughly recommend a dropper for the type of riding you’ll find yourself tackling on the Roamer.

Still got a reason for not owning a fat bike? I bet you don’t…

Internal Cable Routing
£60/cable

The cables are routed through thin stainless steel guide tubes, which run the full length of each internal portion. Rear brake and derailleur cables run internally through the down tube, then externally below the chain stays for the remaining distance. Stealth dropper post cable routing runs internally through the down tube, and directly into the base of the seat tube. The front ends of the cables are sealed to the stainless guide tubes, so that water and dirt cannot enter the frame.

Integrated Seat Clamp

An integrated seat clamp keeps the bike as simple and secure as possible, and complements a dropper seatpost nicely. The clamp requires a 5mm allen key to release and tighten.

Bottle Cage Mounts
£20/pair

BTR bottle cage bosses are stainless steel, and ‘blind’ (no through-hole). This means that they not only work flawlessly as mounts, but also ensure that the frame isn’t compromised by their existence – even if you leave them open. Each pair (for one bottle cage) costs £20.

Bottle Cage Locations:

  • First cage – top side of down tube
  • Second cage – front side of seat tube
  • Third cage – underside of down tube

If you need to relocate a bottle cage, please contact us before placing your order.
